Ty Newydd

LIONEL OWEN RANDOLPH ASHLEY lived at one time at Plas Cae'r Groes, Llanrwst, and later moved to Flaghead, Camford Cliffs, Bournemouth, Dorset. Ronald Mylne Ford of London and Penry John Murray of Penpont, Brecon, were trustees of the property left to Mr Ashley by his grandfather Rvd George E A Ashley.

Mr William Jones lived in Ty Newydd, opposite Cyffdy. William Jones had a mortgage agreement with Charles Thomas Allard, Solicitor of Llanrwst. Mr Allard died without making a will, a bachelor without children or parents, but with a brother who inherited at least part of his property. This was Henry Allard.

Also involved historically in Ty Newydd affairs in one way or another were Alice Louisa Davies, Revd George Edward Arthur Ashley, George Randolph Ashley, Revd Joseph William Griffith, and Rvd William Epworth Cowpland, Margorie Ruthven Bodvel Griffiths, John Blackwall, Ronald Milne Ford, Harry Rathbone Griffith, and Gethin Bodvel Hanmer Griffith.

From Henry Allard the property passed to David Thomas in November 1931, and from him to Mr William Jones in July 1932. In February 1935 the mortgage was transferred to Mrs Jane Jones and in May 1940 to Miss Edith Ann (?) Williams. In 1942 when Miss Williams had died Mr David Thomas was in charge of Ty Newydd affairs again.
